Job Description:

$14.55/hour & up plus benefits

The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of coordinated activities in a manufacturing environment to meet production, quality, and safety goals.

• Must maintain safe work environment by consistently wearing proper PPE, performing safe work behaviors and by communicating any and all safety concerns to supervisor/shift manager
• Operates equipment and mechanized devices and cranes; running, maneuvering, navigating or driving forklifts
• Uses either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes
• Inspects equipment, materials and products to identify the cause of errors, problems or defects, and ensures safe operation
• Judges quality of product and makes adjustments accordingly
• Maintains acceptable productivity levels based on product flow, supervisor feedback and customer needs
• Communicates and escalates problems or concerns to supervisor and co-workers
• Must be able to measure, cut, and use of various mechanical tools accurately
• Must be able to follow directions, job element sheets, standard work and single point lessons pertaining to the shipping department and its operations
• Effectively interact and communicate with sales team members, truck drivers, carrier representatives, shipping scheduler, and all other department personnel in a professional and courteous manner
• Responsible for loading of glass on all trailer types, including other activities as designated by the department supervisor including, but not limited to jib-booming, housekeeping, securement of glass to izada, transport and PSR racks
• Performs other functions as needed

Education: High School graduate or equivalent

• Must be reliable, responsible, and flexible in fulfilling obligations.
• Strong communication skills
• Attention to detail to insure quality product and thoroughness in completing work tasks
• Able to work as a team member; being pleasant with others and displaying a good natured attitude through working in a cooperative manner with fellow employees
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Class 2 forklift license
• Class 3 overhead crane license
• Familiarity with World Glass (V2) system
• Knowledge and understanding of crane and forklift operations to safely operate this equipment

Working Conditions:
• Non-controlled temperature environment along with possibly working in extreme heat and cold with irregular fluctuations in temperature.
• Continuous operation and a fast paced production environment.

Physical Requirements:
• Must be willing and able to stand or walk on a concrete floor for 12 hours per shift at a time
• Associate regularly walks throughout the shift to run quality checks, pack product, break out co-workers, climb on and off forklifts, and to move from task to task
• May be required to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. May also be required to lift up to 35 pounds while twisting at the waist level on a repetitive basis while packing product
• Frequent squatting and bending at the knees, twisting from side to side, pushing and pulling objects, and the ability to reach over one’s head
• Manual Dexterity: Uses hands and arms quickly while packing product
• Frequently climbs up and down stairs, ladders, and mechanical equipment while moving throughout department.
